Jazz at Off Grid

Jazz at Off Grid is technique first: lines, turns, extensions and musicality, built level by level and then put to use on performance nights, where the studio puts students in front of a crowd.

It is also the batch with the most timetable options at the studio: weekday evenings for people coming from work, weekend mornings and afternoons for everyone else.

How the class is built

Level 1Posture, alignment, basic turns, kicks and short combinations. The goal is to move big and clean, on the music, without thinking about your feet.
Level 2Longer sequences at faster tempos, stylistic range from lyrical to sharp, and pieces built specifically for the performance nights.

Questions people ask

Do I need a ballet background for jazz?
No. Level 1 teaches the technique from scratch. A ballet background helps, but most people in the batch do not have one.
Which batch should I join?
Level 1 if you are new to dance or new to jazz. Level 2 if you have trained before. If you are unsure, take the trial class and the instructor will place you.
What are the fees?
₹2,000 to ₹3,000 a month, depending on the batch and level. Your first class is a trial. The fees page has the range per style with the batch days; message the studio on WhatsApp to confirm the exact figure for the batch you want.
What should I wear?
Fitted clothes you can move in and jazz shoes, foot thongs or clean socks. Sneakers are fine for the trial.
Can I learn jazz at 30? Is 25 too old?
No. Jazz Level 1 is an adult beginner batch and it assumes no training at all. Posture, alignment and turns are taught from the ground up, at a pace built for adults who sit at a desk all week. Take the trial class; the instructor will tell you honestly where you stand.
Can I learn jazz in 3 months?
In three months of Level 1, two classes a week, you can expect clean posture, basic turns and kicks, and short combinations you can dance on the music without counting out loud. Moving up to Level 2 depends on you, not the calendar. A performance night is the milestone most people aim for.
What is the best age to start jazz?
Children train in the weekend Kids batch from 6 until about 14, then join the adult Level 1 batches. Adults start whenever they decide to. Level 1 is built for first-timers of any age.
